The Flaming Lips, an American Rock Band has come up with a creative way to put on live shows in the midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic – putting themselves and their audience in protective “space bubbles”.
The group performed two concerts over the weekend in Oklahoma, where audience members danced along while enclosed in plastic bubbles.
Pre-show pictures showcased 100 bubbles, each capable of holding a maximum of three people. Cameraman and photographer Nathan Poppe made the post on Twitter.
The capsules included a speaker, fan, water bottle, towel and a sign stating “I gotta go pee/It’s hot in here” to be shown to stewards, who escorted audience or refilled the bubbles with cool air.
How COVID protocols are being followed?
Regarding and following the Covid protocols, attendees are supposed to wear a mask outside their bubbles. Still, they can remove it once they are inside the bubble, an instructional video was even made to help all attendees. The lead singer Wayne Coyne shared the video on his social media showing details of everything.
In his interview, Coyne told about how he felt they were lucky that the fans like this kind of adventure. He further continues how this was completely different from regular concerts. Also, how it never been done before and how one feels to be completely part of it.
Mr Wayne is also for his crowd-surf in a bubble.
The group’s dedication to their fans is commendable. It shows how they will go to any extent to make their fans happy.
They had long planned for such concert as they had held a practice bubble show test run to see how things will happen last year only. Thus, it surely shows the dedication as most bands and singers cancelled all their concerts.
