It seems like most of the blogging we see done nowadays is about fashion, traveling (once it is possible again), eating healthy, and working out. Blogs are that area of the internet in which people share their opinions, expertise, advice, and tips based on the knowledge they have on specific topics. From time to time, among those lifestyle blogs, one pops up that advocates for significant issues. One of those blogs belongs to mommy blogger Alicia Trautwein and is The Mom Kind.
Who is Alicia Trautwein?
Alicia Trautwein is a blogger, mother of four, and special needs advocate. She and two of her youngest children were diagnosed with Autism, which immersed her in the blogging world. As she searched for more information on the diagnosis, Trautwein realized not many sites shared people’s personal experiences, knowledge, and advice. Although there were thousands of blogs out there, none talked about the kind of topics this mom was looking for. She then understood she would have to create it herself and have a space where others like her and her family could turn to in times of need.
Trautwein says, “in my search for information, I found very few sites sharing personal accounts of raising multiple children on the spectrum. With my desire to spread awareness and help other parents, The Mom Kind was born.”
What is The Mom Kind?
Mommy blogs tend to be solely about issues regarding motherhood, lifestyle, and tips for new moms. Alicia Trautwein turned this blog genre around and expanded it into topics that had not been previously discussed. Although she does share articles about motherhood and lifestyle, she centers her topics around neurodiverse families in order to give them the support and information they might not find anywhere else. Trautwein explains, “The Mom Kind is a site dedicated to parents of neurodiverse families. We cover topics that educate, encourage, involve, and sometimes just give you a great laugh.”
For the last few years, Trautwein has been working hard to create a community that feels welcomed and welcomes everyone looking for support, information, and advice when it comes to being the head of a neurodiverse family or dealing with your diagnosis. This blogger says she wants every reader and everyone who comes across her site to become a part of their extended family. She encourages her followers to interact with each post and gives them the opportunity to message her if there is a specific topic they want to see covered. That is what makes this blog stand out from the rest.
Opening a Space for Neurodiversity
In a digital world where everyone is able to create a space to be heard, Alicia Trautwein broke the mommy blogger stereotypes and started bringing awareness to critical topics. Sharing her family’s journey and personal journey, she created a safe space for neurodiverse families and parents like herself to read about their own issues, seek advice, and find a community that welcomes them and makes them feel seen.
Alicia Trautwein is definitely an inspiring mommy blogger.
